Persian Baklava
This project was carried out on behalf of a Yazdi pastry production and export company for printing on product packaging.
It’s wonderful that I was involved in creating packaging designs for a company specializing in Yazdi pastries. This type of project requires a lot of creativity and attention to detail to effectively showcase the beauty and appeal of traditional sweets like Yazd Baklava.
Yazd Baklava
Yazd Baklava, also known as Baghlava Yazdi, is a traditional Persian pastry originating from the city of Yazd in Iran. It’s a delightful sweet treat that’s known for its rich flavors and beautiful presentation.
Key Features of Yazd Baklava:
- Layers of Dough: The pastry is made with thin layers of dough, similar to phyllo pastry, which are stacked and filled with a mixture of chopped nuts like almonds and pistachios.
- Flavorful Filling: The filling is often flavored with cardamom, cinnamon, and rose water, giving it a fragrant and unique taste.
- Sweet Syrup: After baking, Yazd Baklava is soaked in a sweet syrup made from sugar, water, and rose water, which adds to its moist and decadent texture.
- Distinct Shape: Unlike traditional baklava, Yazd Baklava is often cut into rhombus shapes, adding to its visual appeal
Qotab
Qotab (also spelled Ghotab or Qottab) is a traditional Persian pastry that is especially popular during the Persian New Year, Nowruz. It’s a delicious sweet treat made from a dough filled with a mixture of nuts, typically almonds, walnuts, or pistachios. The filling is often flavored with cardamom, cinnamon, and rose water, giving it a fragrant and unique taste.
Qotab is usually deep-fried, resulting in a crispy exterior and a rich, flavorful interior. It’s a beloved pastry in Iran, particularly in the cities of Yazd and Kerman, where it originated.
